so I thought I was getting used to the state of things but then that orange idiot came out with THAT and uhhh
suffice to say I think reading the news when he's involved kills my brain cells
but yeah I think I've sorta settled into the swing of things re: the pandemic in SF. like we're really not doing too badly and the sheltering in place seems to be really pretty effective. we're still getting new info almost every day about surprise! this protocol has changed and you need to post outside of the health clinic! don't forget to take the extra, annoying step of asking CADDIE where to take patients even though their radio etiquette is terrible and they are rarely helpful with destination decisions!
I'm just going to bitch about radio etiquette for a bit because it's important to have a standardized way of communicating with someone that you can't see and have probably never met. Standard radio interactions with trained personnel: - "hello [your identifier], it's [my identifier]"
- "hello [your identifier](confirming that they heard who you are), go ahead (give me your message)" EXCEPT the docs on the other line never learned this closed loop communication so half the time EMS is just like ??? why are you being so rude??? Interactions have been more like: EMS: hello CADDIE, m24601 CADDIE - this is CADDIE EMS: hello CADDIE (2 minute report with full vital signs) can we take patient to x destination please?
CADDIE - go ahead
and then we're left wondering if they heard a single thing of what we just said because it makes it sound like they missed the whole last two minutes of information it's a pain in the ass too because you give that report to CADDIE and then forget to give the actual receiving hospital your report because we're all so used to giving just one prehospital =__= ok rant over
