tour 5 day 2- obvious death

do DOA calls bother me? yes and no. these last two were both elderly and appeared to be of natural causes in their own safe homes. the kind of DOAs where you have the time to piece together what a person's life must have been like and wonder why they have a 32 oz container of TANG when you haven't seen TANG since the late 90s.

the other kind?...usually suicides. you tiptoe past the darkened threshold and you feel heaviness. there's no quiet banter with your partner about their taste in decor. these are the ones where you realize you were holding your breath only after you've stepped back outside; the air is sharp and cool, the sun hits your face, and then you are so, so suddenly aware of how you are practicing the act of living and the body inside is not.
