sometimes you don't do a follow-up because then the patient can live on in your mind & it's better to have them exist in that liminal space than not at all
this way when i drive past his house (it's along a major route, i can't help it) i can pretend he's back in there playing video games again after a successful resuscitation and TPA to bust his pulmonary embolism. the problem with working in the city you live in is you start to run out of places that don't have calls associated with them. luckily i haven't had to run on any of my friends/acquaintances yet, but i'm sure it'll happen eventually.
we call it The City but it can really still be a small town
[i'm very lucky to have a supportive group of EMS and non-EMS friends alike who saw how upset i was about this call. & internet friends! thank you <3]
